![]() ![]() I really wish they would take a little more responsibility for this as I did follow their techs instructions when this happened. Personally in my uninformed opinion the DPF-R Emergency Return to stock tune is what killed my truck by frying the PCM. After speaking to their programmer guy they over-nighted me DPF-R module and that is the unit that killed my truck once I attempted to return my truck to stock. Gearbox Z admitted there was a problem with the tune they sent me and that the DPF-R programming was not in the code they sent me for some reason. I really think that there was a problem with the programmer and the tune itself. I have yet to hear from anyone that had an issue running a programmer on a Cab and Chassis truck. He just told me that Gearbox Z is not a tuner he would put on his truck. ![]() I am counting on him knowing what he's talking about after discussing my entire situation with him. When I spoke to the sales guy about my SCT programmer he said it didn't matter that it would work. Gearbox Z never asked me when I purchased the programmer if my truck was a Cab and Chassis or not. I haven't gotten the final bill from Ford yet but I am guessing it is going to run about $500 or so not including my having to find and purchase another PCM which I paid $150 for. I have the old PCM and they did offer to buy that off me at a core price (We'll see if they follow through) so they can trouble shoot the issue. As of today my truck is running and throwing a bunch of codes but still sitting at the dealership waiting for my SCT to come in so I can tune it to delete the DPF and EGR.Īs of right now I am still waiting hear back from Gearbox Z on my refund of $805 for the Electron with the tachyon and DPF-R tunes. His stock tune had to be calibrated to match the truck and it worked just fine. I asked the Ford Tech what the differences were when I bought the used PCM his biggest concern was that the PCM was from a 4X4 truck but he really didn't seem to know if it would cause a problem or not. My question is does anyone have any experience running the tuners mostly recommended (Spartan/H&K Mini Maxx) on a cab and chassis truck? Was there anything special you had to do? I am towing the truck to the dealer tomorrow and I don't want to have to have the computer flashed again. They were very attentive and did everything they could think of but the one thing that popped up was that because my truck was a cab and chassis truck that it had different stock programs than the standard truck and that may have caused the issue.Īfter some discussion I decided I was going to send the programmer back. I worked extensively with the manufacturer and we were not able to get the problem resolved. When I attempted to go back to stock the security immobilizer locked up my truck and it is now a rolling brick. After putting on the tuner and loading it up I found there to be an issue with the tune not loading properly. I purchased a DPF-R and Electron about a week ago and then did my DPF/DOC delete and EGR delete. I know there are delete kits that remove the intake and others that have them.I own a 2008 f350 Cab and Chassis. It looks like the DPF has been deleted by looking under the truck at the exhaust as I see a straight pip under there but I am under as to if the EGR has been deleted. I have read that these engines can have problems but if deleted & maintained they can be good engines.
